A group photo before the event
On the 4th of
March, KDU PAC was invited to collaborate with KPMG to carry out a volunteer
program to clean up Zoo Negara. The event started at 6am when PAC students and
staff reached KDU with a smile on their faces ready to do some good for the
community. At 7am, the bus departed for Zoo Negara and we reached there an hour
later.

Negara
When we reached there, we
were introduced to the friendly staff from KPMG. They sponsored KDU PAC
students to buy tickets to enter the zoo. Upon entering, staff and students
from both KDU and KPMG were split into groups and allocated to various
exhibits.
Briefing
Thereafter, the volunteer
work officially began. Each group was allocated a supervisor from Zoo Negara.
The supervisors instructed the volunteers as to what needs to be done. The job
scope of volunteers included cleaning up the animal waste, washing up the
animals, feeding the animals as well as cleaning up the habitat. It seemed to
be a culture shock for both KPMG staff and KDU students as none of them were
accustomed to this sort of work.
Panda at Zoo Negara
At 12 noon, the work was
officially over and both staff and students were given a special treat to visit
the panda habitat. There were many “oohhss” and “ahhhss” as everyone was intrigued
by the antics of the panda. An occasional chuckle was made when the panda
performed its cute acts.
On the way back to KDU DJ
At 3pm, the volunteer
program had officially ended. We thanked KPMG for the opportunity to serve our
community and went on the bus heading back to KDU. A fruitful day indeed.
