Munch and Miles 2024

On the 8th and 9th of October, the Professional Accountancy Centre (PAC) hosted a vibrant foodfest in conjunction with Fitspiration Week, known as ‘Munch and Miles’. From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, students and staff at UOW Malaysia enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with diverse cuisines, exciting performances, and a sense of community. With 21 organizing committee members ensuring the event's success, the foodfest was a treat for all involved.

The first day, October 8th, began at 10:00 AM, with students gathering in anticipation of the food stalls that lined the venue. A diverse array of foods and beverages awaited them, from refreshing coconut milkshakes to savory Arabic shawarma, Korean dishes, and rich Vietnamese coffee. There was something for everyone, whether they were craving something light, a filling meal, or a sweet dessert.

The event space was adorned with colorful balloons and a large banner displaying the title ‘Munch and Miles’, setting a festive tone. These decorations, combined with the lively crowd and the aromas of diverse cuisines, contributed to a cheerful and welcoming environment that invited students to relax, eat, and socialize.

As noon approached, the crowd swelled, with students taking a break between classes to explore the food stalls. Many were excited by the variety of international offerings, with some discovering new favorites for the first time.

At 1:00 PM, the excitement heightened as the PARTS club took the stage for their much- anticipated dance performance. With energy and rhythm, the dancers performed two songs, captivating the crowd and adding an extra layer of entertainment to the day’s activities. The performances were well-received, with many students pausing their food explorations to enjoy the show.

The day continued with the food stalls serving up delicious bites until 4:00 PM, when the first day of the event concluded. Students and staff left with full stomachs and smiles, already looking forward to the next day.

On October 9th, "Munch and Miles" resumed at 10:00 AM with more food and excitement. The second day carried the same energy, with students eagerly sampling more unique dishes and engaging with vendors. The atmosphere remained lively as friends gathered around the food stalls, enjoying everything from coffee and desserts to main courses and light snacks.

At 1:00 PM, the focus shifted from food to music. A live singing session featuring student performers took center stage, with three songs delighting the audience. The performances added a warm, melodic touch to the event, and attendees appreciated the entertainment while continuing to explore the various food offerings.

The EMCEE kept the energy up, announcing both the food vendors and the performers, ensuring that everyone knew what was happening throughout the day. The blend of food and music created a harmonious experience, with students savoring their meals while enjoying live performances.

Throughout both days, the event saw high participation, with almost all students attending during their breaks between classes. Many attendees expressed their excitement about the variety of food available and praised the efforts of the organizing committee for creating such an enjoyable experience. Students and staff alike left positive feedback, with many highlighting the unique food choices as a major draw.

The event concluded at 4:00 PM on the second day, marking the end of a successful and memorable two-day foodfest. With everyone enjoying the opportunity to try new foods and participate in a social, vibrant atmosphere, Munch and Miles became a standout event on the campus calendar.
