At 8:00 am, the volunteers assembled at the Atrium to board the provided van. By 9:00 am, they had arrived at S.I Home Shelter in Shah Alam, where they were warmly welcomed by the management.
Atikah, Dania, Bashii, Joyce, and Uzair were assigned tasks for the ground floor, while Ain, Hawa, and Nabil were designated for the first floor.
On the ground floor, Atikah and Bashii focused on cleaning the cages of sick cats, working in two rooms. They replaced the newspapers used as floor mats in the cages, washed the food and water containers, and replenished them with fresh supplies. They also emptied the old litter and filled the boxes with new sand. Meanwhile, Joyce, Dania, and Uzair were responsible for cleaning the cages of healthy cats, following similar procedures.
Upstairs, Ain, Hawa, and Nabil began their tasks by thoroughly wiping down surfaces. Nabil filled water bowls for the cats, cleaned the food plates, and provided fresh meals. They vacuumed and mopped the floors, cleaned the litter boxes, and organized the cats' resting area by tidying toys and ensuring everything was in order. They also carefully cleaned the cats’ faces with soft wet tissues and cotton buds, paying special attention to areas needing extra care, and administered eye drops to those with eye issues. They swept the stairs and mopped them as well.
The volunteers brought in approximately 20 sacks of sand for litter purposes, storing them on the first floor of the shelter. With some time remaining, they enjoyed playing with the cats and giving them treats.
Before departing, certificates were awarded to all volunteers for their participation. Hawa, acting as the event director, presented the donations collected from contributors to the management of the organization. At 2:00 pm, the volunteers safely returned to UOW Malaysia.
